Mr. Jay Gibson is an educator with 20 years experience teaching in both private and public schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with dual minors in English as well as Speech and Drama, from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. His Master’s degree is in Library and Information Sciences, from the University of North Carolina. He is also a certified Public Librarian.

Mr. Gibson served in the U.S. Navy, where he started teaching at Naval Education Training Command. While teaching at St. Edward’s School in Vero Beach Florida, Mr. Gibson taught classes ranging from 6th grade Social Studies to AP Government, while also serving as an Assistant Director of Operations. He was the Media Coordinator for Elkin High School in Elkin, North Carolina, managing a 7,800 volume library for grades 7-12. He also was the web administrator for Elkin High School.

Presently, Mr. Gibson is the director of Library Services at Academy at the Lakes, an independent school in Land O'Lakes Florida. He supervises operations of two libraries, and teaches a class in Economics.

Helping develop critical thinkers and self-reliant learners is an ongoing priority for Mr. Gibson. Having as much fun as possible is also up there on his priorities. He lives in Tampa with his wife and son. His hobbies include web design, writing science fiction, woodworking and model making.
